These three soft-cover (approximately 5.5" by 8.5") guide books to cored rocks include a rock classification system and numerous one-to-one scale color photographs illustrating common rock types which make up coal-bearing strata in the areas covered.
The Pocahontas Basin book covers southern West Virginia, eastern Kentucky, western Virginia and northern Tennessee. The book has been used and the cover shows minor wear. The interior pages are in excellent condition, no rips tears or stains.
The Pittsburgh Basin book covers western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio and norther West Virginia. The book has been used and shows significant wear on the cover and some minor wear on the interior pages. No major rips or tears.
The Rocky Mountain and High Plains book covers the major coal field areas in the western United States. Although the book may have been used, it is in "like new" condition.
Included with the guide books are two sets of plastic coated reference cards (approximately 2" by 3") showing various diamond core drilling dimensions, weights and volumes. One was produced by Longyear Drilling Company, the other by Christensen Diamond Products.
