    This listing is for 20 board feet of PLANED goncalo alves tigerwood that measures from 1 to 1.625 (1 and 5/8) inches thick X 5 to 14 inches wide X 48 to 135 inches long. This wood has a lot of figure--black stripes--and beautiful oranges, yellows, and reds as well as bright white sapwood that provides an amazing contrast. This wood is very hard and takes a glass like finish.
    Goncalo alves tigerwood wood is similar to cocobolo rosewood in terms of hardness. Some people call this wood gonzalo or gonzalo alves. Historically this wood has been called golden ebony. It is also called tigerwood because of the amazing black strips and yellow and orange colors. There are 20 board feet = 104 pounds of PLANED and kiln dried wood for sale in this listing. The scientific or latin name for this wood is astrononium graveolens.
