    Base located at
    Anchorage International Airport, Alaska
    The squadron was a assigned under the
    Alaska Air Command
    (AAC) on
    1 July 1960
    It was redesignated as the 144th Air Transport
    Squadron Medium (M)
    on 1 December 1960
    The squadron was inactivated on 1 April 1969
    when it was redesignated
    as the 144th Tactical
    Airlift Squadron
    During its tenure it flew C-47A and C-123J
    aircraft
    The patch design was approved by the Heraldry Office
    on 30 April 1954;
    its designer was the first commander of
    the Alaska Air National Guard,
    Commander Lars L. Johnson,
    who was a fighter bomber pilot in the
    Pacific Theater during
    World War II; he was also the Territory of Alaska's
    first Adjutant General serving from 1951 - 1955
